Create a website without budget or any knowledge of web designing?
Easy! You just need Wix! Wix does most of the hard work for you, and all that is left is for you to choose what’s right for your website’s style.
In our case we needed to create the website for our event where people can easily get the information about the event and speakers, register and follow-up.
Where to start?
Wix offers a vast selection of gorgeous website templates for multiple themes, styles and purposes. Take a look, take your time and choose the one that best suits your vision.
And now the fun part begins!
We were pretty short on time because we needed the website “for yesterday”. Luckily we already had the story and most of the content to fill in. Editing of the sections of the Wix website is pretty easy and intuitive. A tip: start with creating an e-mail. Wix chooses the html address without your help and trust me, you do not want people to see “prettysunshine” or “sweetkitty” in the address line of your official event.
Then Frederik got all the necessary information about our speakers, photos and their stories. The challenge is to have everything up to date, but this is important. The content of the website depends on all the members and participants and I had to be really annoying to get it from them. In my case another challenge is Dutch! So I needed somebody constantly proofreading and search mistakes. By the way if you see any – please contact me! A tip: have somebody to read what you write. You can never trust your eyes 100%.
Next step was to find a photographer who could make the photos of our team and the event. A tip: search in your network. If there is none – check the photography class students in HIK, they might be happy to help you and get some experience in their area. If there are also no - contact our photographer!
And then you just go with the flow. Actively pedaling but with the flow.
I created a quiz (which you should do by the way - https://marketingvandetoek.wixsite.com/mysite/quiz ) to make people more engaged with our event, to learn more about the speakers and the topic of the seminar. Elien, our sponsoring expert arranged some lovely prizes for the winner. It is all about the team work!
We also worke closely with Bert, so the layouts and content of the web site and Facebook page are the same.
And my last tip for the moment will be: work together for the goal, believe in it and you will never forget the experience with your #dreamteam!
